My name is Wanda Morrison, also known as "MsWanda", and I am a Muscogee Creek Native belonging to the Wind Clan. I was born in a small Oklahoma town called Henryetta.

My inspiration came from my mother, Hepsey, a woman of many talents. After her children left home to enter their careers, she started her own career, albeit late in life around 70 years old, when she began beading, quilting, and basket/loom weaving until her death at age 96. She taught basket weaving at the Tulsa Junior College, as well as, at the Creek Nation Council House in Okmulgee.

I would have enjoyed having my mother as my mentor in these artistic endeavors had I remained in the family's home state of Oklahoma; yet, it seems I’m following her footsteps with the same timeline in my jewelry making endeavours.

While visiting my eldest daughter who lived in Santa Fe in the mid-1990s, I was immediately struck with the cultural richness of the town and wished to be a part of it. In 2002, retirement finally brought me and my husband back to Santa Fe.
